
The Awujale and paramount ruler of Ijebuland, Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona, has joined his ancestors.
A reliable source close to the Awujale’s Palace in Ijebu-Ode and officials within the Ogun State Government confirmed the monarch’s death on Sunday.
Oba Adetona, who ascended the throne in 1960, was one of Nigeria’s longest-reigning traditional rulers and a highly respected voice among Yoruba monarchs and across the country.
As of the time of filing this report, the cause of his death could not be ascertained as official statements from the palace and state government were yet to be released.
