Honourable Mudashiru Obasa, the Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly,on Saturday, has cast his vote in the ongoing local government elections across the state.

The Honourable exercised his franchise at Polling Unit 019, Ward E, located on Oluwole Olaniyan Street in the Orile Agege area of Lagos.

He arrived at the polling unit in the morning, briefly interacted with electoral officials and constituents, and proceeded to cast his ballot.

Speaking to journalists shortly after voting, the Speaker lauded the peaceful and orderly nature of the exercise, noting that the process had been devoid of violence or disruptions.

"So far, the process has been peaceful and without any form of rancour or disruption. It’s encouraging to see people coming out to exercise their democratic rights,” Obasa said.

He commended the Lagos State Independent Electoral Commission for its role in facilitating a smooth and transparent process, describing peaceful elections as fundamental to democracy and effective governance.

Obasa also urged eligible voters who had yet to cast their votes to do so, stressing the importance of civic participation in local governance.

“It is important that we all take part in this process. Voting is not just a right but a responsibility, and I urge everyone to fulfil this civic duty,” he added.

The Speaker expressed confidence that the results of the election would reflect the true will of the people and emphasised the need for transparency and credibility throughout the process.

As voting continues across Lagos, there is growing optimism among stakeholders that the peaceful atmosphere observed so far will persist until the conclusion of the exercise.
