
A Nigerian man identified as Ogbonna Ogbojionu, an indigene of Abia state has recently regained freedom after spending 26 years in prison. It was alleged that he bought a stolen generator from a mechanic.
Ogbonna bought the generator from Segun Ajibade thinking it was legit and two weeks after, Segun Ajibade returned with police, claiming the generator was stolen. Ogbonna and Segun Ajibade got arrested at the spot.

What followed after was a nightmare. Ogbonna alleges he was beaten to stupor and was forced to sign a statement he couldn't read. Ogbonna was remanded in 1999, and he was sentenced to d3ath in 2003 for allegedly buying a stolen property. Ogbonna spent a quarter century in prison in kirikiri's d3ath row.
Ogbonna became an Internet sensation after the story of how he regained freedom following the intervention of the Abia State Governor, Alex Otti, after 22 years of incarceration.
