LASU Dismisses Two Lecturers Over Inhumane Treatment and S3xual Conduct

Lagos State University (LASU), has officially dismissed two senior lecturers, identified as  Prof. Olatunji Abanikanda, following allegations of sexual harassment, inhumane treatment, and financial misconduct, following multiple complaints from other staff and students.

At a council meeting on July 3, 2025, it was determined that Prof. Abanikanda forced students to work up to 16 hours daily without breaks or essentials—even during heavy rain—and subjected female students to harassment.

In addition, allegations include threats, abusive language, unauthorized money collection, and misuse of funds from farm produce (over ₦10.6 million) by a second dismissed lecturer, Dr. Khadeejah Kareem-Ibraheem.

LASU in its statement affirmed its commitment to restoring integrity and safety within its academic environment.
